Andy has a long-standing and diverse background within the outdoor industry, providing a great insight into the technical aspects of running challenging and often complex outdoor programmes.
He has provided technical advice and training to outdoor education centres, schools, major climbing walls, charities and commercial companies.
Particular specialisms of his include staff training and competency assessments, risk management systems, advising on operating procedures and working with organisations to correctly identify their needs leading to efficient systems for paperwork, processes and practical delivery.
Cat has an equally long-standing and varied career in the outdoors having initially trained as a lawyer and worked in the legal profession for 7 years. Cat now advises the outdoor industry through a range of CPD courses and technical advice aimed at maximising adventure while minimising risks to organisations.
With a firm belief that the outdoor industry should continue to promote high levels of challenge and adventure and not 'wrap people up in cotton wool', Cat works with a range of clients to help design and implement systems that enable efficient and cost-effective risk management - without the feeling of drowning in paperwork!
As part of the technical advisory services provided by Adventure Expertise, Cat undertakes a full range of expert witness services from site visits and report writing through to cross-examination in the courtroom. Cat is in a unique position to combine her legal understanding and experience (LLB Law Degree, MA Medical Law from King's College London, Legal Practice Course from the College of Law) with the MIC and IML outdoor qualifications that she holds and remains current in using.
To ensure that her skills remain up to date, Cat undertakes regular CPD and is accredited by the Cardiff University Bond Solon CUBS programme as an expert witness.
Andy and Cat are course directors for Mountain Training awards, provide skills courses for the National Mountain Centres, provide CPD and mentorship for a number of instructors on their instructor qualification journeys each year and are personally highly active in the outdoors to a high standard.
