Learn to Lead Multi-Pitch Climbing Course

Overview

Multi-pitch climbing in the UK offers some incredible adventures and a lifetime of routes to explore. However, making the transition from single to multi-pitch climbing can feel incredibly daunting: how do multi-pitch rope systems work? How do we avoid getting in rope tangles? What might we do if we get stuck or the weather turned and we needed to retreat? We’ll take the time to demystify multi-pitch climbing and give you the confidence and a great toolbox of skills to have adventures with.

We only offer this course privately as from experience we have found this to be the best way of ensuring you get the right course for you. Our private course option gives you the ability to choose the course dates, location and whether you’d like to attend on your own or with a friend.

Course Duration

2 – 5 Days Recommended

We recommend at least 2 days for this course since this allows a good amount of time for the practice and coaching on different routes to develop all the skills and a good level of confidence. We are happy to run one day courses if you are short on time and we will work hard to deliver a fast-track course for you, but beware the limitation of time! People often book this course for 3-5 days, which gives the time to climb many routes, deal with any poor weather better and get a very good grounding in the skills needed for independence as a multi-pitch climber.

Course Ratio

2:1 (See notes for 3:1)

We run this course with a maximum of two clients to one instructor. Our low ratios ensure you receive personalised coaching, allowing you to maximise your learning and enjoyment during your course. It is possible to run courses at 3:1 but we would like to chat to you beforehand about this to explain what would be different and ensure you were getting the quality of experience and training we like to deliver. Please get in touch if you’d be interested in a 3:1 course with us.

Location

Lake District / Snowdonia / Cornwall / Scotland

We primarily run these courses in the Lake District and Snowdonia but are always keen to explore further afield with you. These locations boast some of the best multi-pitch climbing in the country, with amazing mountain views and accessible and varied climbing. These venues allow us endless options for improving your lead climbing skills and giving you great days out.

Dates

Year round

We are happy to take you climbing at anytime of the year. We are confident we can deliver an informative and enjoyable experience regardless of the weather. If however, you know that you would like to stack the odds of warmer drier weather in your favour then you might prefer to book a course between April and September.

Price

£250/day for 1 person + £25/day for each additional person
