Mountain Leader Courses – Bursary Funding

 How can we help?

Our sister company Adventure Expeditions is a not-for-profit company with year-end ‘profits’ being used to meet one of its core aims: to help widen participation in outdoor activities.

A bursary programme is in place and applications are welcomed from staff at non-fee-paying schools and volunteer leaders who wish to attend an NGB qualification where the main purpose of undertaking this is to lead young people in the outdoors. Support from AE bursaries is given towards Mountain Leader courses in the form of:

A £150 contribution towards Mountain Leader course fees, to help train/assess leaders so they can lead outdoor activity programmes/courses/expeditions for young people in the future.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for this bursary funding you must either be currently working in a non-fee-paying school or working voluntarily, delivering outdoor activities to young people (or have the intention to do so upon completion of the award), see below for some examples:

  • Teachers delivering DofE expeditions or Outdoor Activities
  • Scout & Girlguidng leaders
  • Voluntary DofE Assessors/Supervisors
  • Voluntary Army/Sea/Air Cadet Leaders
