We are a team of instructors known for our flexible, personal approach and delivering the very highest quality courses, guiding and outdoor activities.
Who We Are
Adventure Expertise is run by three of the UK's most qualified Mountaineering Instructors - Jake Phillips and Cat and Andy Charlton. We have worked at the highest levels for many years, guiding all over the world, running skills courses, outdoor activities, training and assessing instructors and acting as mountain safety advisors.
Our experience sets us apart but it's our desire to do our very best for people that really allows us to deliver on our shared aim: to provide the UK's best mountain skills courses, guiding and outdoor activities.
Experience and high-level skills make all the difference in the outdoor environment and that's what we bring to your course. It's those factors that mean we can easily adapt as we go - to suit the way you're feeling at any given moment, pitch things at the right level for you and to help you get the best out of yourself.

Our aim is to set the standard for outdoor skills courses and guiding in the UK - Our approach to course design and delivery is a result of that goal, giving us the flexibility to provide exactly what you're looking for and pitch everything at a level that's right for you.
Peak District, UK-wide and Overseas
Adventure Expertise has a training base and office in Hathersage in the heart of the Peak District National Park but our experience and qualifications allow us to operate all across the UK and overseas.

UK courses have taken us from the Cornish sea cliffs to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and we run regular courses and guiding in Snowdonia and the Lake District. Further afield we have enjoyed exploring some lesser known corners of Europe including the Tatra Mountains of Poland and Slovakia, the Swiss Bernese Oberland, remote parts of Norway and the stunning cliffs of Leonidio in Greece.

Our aim is to set the standard for outdoor training courses and guiding in the UK and to encourage more people to enjoy the outdoors more often. Delivering great courses, guiding and outdoor activities really matters to us and we aim to provide the best possible experiences and training for you at every opportunity.
We aim to achieve this through our tailored activity days and skills courses which provide individuals with the confidence and skills to be independent, as well as through qualification courses, ensuring that the next generation of outdoor instructors are trained to the highest possible standards.
We strongly believe that personalised courses run by great instructors and low instructor to student ratios are key to ensuring you develop your skills safely and swiftly.
